High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Zareh Sinanyan paid a working visit to Cyprus.

27 July, 2022

High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Zareh Sinanyan paid a working visit to Cyprus. He participated in the opening ceremony of the World Conference of Cyprus Diaspora following the invitation of Mr. Photis Photiou, the Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Issues and Overseas Cypriots.

During a separate meeting with his Armenian counterpart, Mr. Photis Photiou emphasized that after the signing of the Trilateral Memorandum on Armenia-Greece-Cyprus Diaspora issues a month ago, this is another important opportunity to expand the fields of cooperation. "First of all, the Armenian and Cypriot Diasporas are allies and friends. In this regard, there are many fields of cooperation, from cultural ties to dialogue between Youth, etc."

Mr. Photis Photiou expressed his gratitude to Mr. Zareh Sinanyan for accepting the invitation, and talked about activities on Diaspora issues between the two countries that need to be prioritized, as well as all upcoming activities. At the end of the meeting, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Zareh Sinanyan invited his Cypriot counterpart to participate in the Global Armenian Summit to be held in Armenia during the upcoming fall.

Mr. Zareh Sinanyan made a welcome speech at the second day of the World Conference of Cyprus Diaspora.

"I have the honor to attend the World Conference of Cyprus Diaspora for the second time. We have a lot in common with brotherly Cyprus such as our rich historical memory and heritage, pain and losses we shared in the past, high universal values, our love for peace and the pursuit of justice. All what we share constitutes a base with great potential for further cooperation between our countries. One of the fields of that cooperation is the Armenia-Cyprus-Greece format on Diaspora issues, which we reconfirmed with the Trilateral Memorandum signed in Greece a month ago," said Mr. Zareh Sinanyan.

He also emphasized the great prospects of cooperation with the Cypriot Diaspora, in particular, in protecting the interests of both countries, the creation of Youth and professional networks and other fields.

The representatives of Greece, Serbia and Romania also deliver a welcome speech, emphasizing the establishment of ties and mutual recognition between the Diasporas of different countries in such a format.
