A memorial service dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Genocide of the Greeks of Asia Minor

As part of the events dedicated to the Day of Commemoration of the Genocide of the Greeks of Asia Minor carried out by the Turkish authorities, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia to Thessaloniki Mr. Akis Dagazyan attended the memorial service dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Genocide of the Greeks of Asia Minor.  A memorial service was conducted by the Bishop of Neapoli - Stavroupoli Diocese, Varnava.

 

A memorial service took place in the Cathedral of St. Prodromos in Neapoli, Thessaloniki.

 

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the political and military authorities of Thessaloniki, including Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, responsible for Macedonia and Thrace - he was representing the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic to the ceremony, Ms. Paraskevi Patoulidou,  Deputy Head of the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki, the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Konstantinos Zervas, the Mayor of the Neapoli-Sikeia Municipality Mr. Simos Danilidis, the Mayor of Ampelokipi – Menemeni, Mr. Lazaros Kyrizoglou, Commander of the Third Army Corps, Sotirios Kostakoglou, Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Thessaloniki, Mr. Konstantinos Polikarpou, as well as MPs, representatives of parties, associations and organizations.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Monument to the Greek Refugees. On behalf of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Hellenic Republic Mr. Tigran Mkrtchyan, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia to Thessaloniki Mr. Akis Dagazyan laid a wreath at the Monument to the Greek Refugees.
