Audiovisual Exhibition Dedicated to Armenian and Byzantine–Greek Christian Culture Held in Athens

05 December, 2025

With the support and under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Greece, an exceptional audiovisual exhibition dedicated to Armenian and Byzantine–Greek Christian culture was held at the “Melina” Cultural Center in Athens. The exhibition was authored by the renowned Armenian musician and photographer Saro Zaven.

The exhibition featured photographs of medieval churches in Armenia, Greece, and the Middle East, accompanied by contemporary presentations of corresponding Christian musical traditions.

At the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, delivered a welcoming address, emphasizing the importance of cultural cooperation between Armenia and Greece and expressing his appreciation to the artist, as well as to all those who honored the event with their presence.

The Ambassador also addressed the distinctive features of the photo exhibition, particularly the reflection of light within church interiors captured in the images, which represent a unique aesthetic interest. He further highlighted that the musical narratives included excerpts from the Divine Liturgy of Komitas Vardapet, produced in 2019–2020 by the American company DELOS Music, performed by the Latvian Radio Choir, and initiated, organized, and supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia.

The event was followed by a small reception, during which guests were offered traditional Armenian beverages.

The exhibition (with musical accompaniment) will be open to visitors until December 13, 2025.
