Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Visits Benaki Museum and Laskaridis Foundation in Athens

22 July, 2025

As part of her visit to Athens, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, led a delegation to the Benaki Museum. Accompanied by the museum’s Academic Director, George Manginisis, the Minister toured the museum, familiarized herself with the institution's activities, and explored its exceptional exhibition.

The museum's director presented exhibits from ancient times, including ceramics of Armenian origin. The possibility of cooperation with the History Museum of Armenia, specifically organizing a joint exhibition, was discussed.

Subsequently, the Armenian delegation visited the Laskaridis Foundation, where, accompanied by the Foundation’s CEO Konstantinos Mazarakis, they familiarized themselves with the ancient Greek manuscripts housed there. Presenting the work of the Old Manuscripts House, the director noted that Armenian ancient manuscripts are also preserved in the institution.

During the visit, the parties discussed opportunities to develop bilateral relations, strengthen inter-museum cooperation, and, in particular, active collaboration with the History Museum of Armenia and the Matenadaran (Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts).

It should be noted that the delegation led by Minister Zhanna Andreasyan included the Minister’s Advisor Arman Andrikyan, the Director of the History Museum of Armenia David Poghosyan, the Director of the Armenian Cinema Foundation David Banuchyan, the Director of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra Norayr Nazaryan, and the Director of the Cultural Development Foundation Karen Avetisyan. The delegation was accompanied by the Ambassador of Armenia to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan.
