Ambassador Mkrtchyan’s Closed Meeting with the Greek Society for Geographical Studies “Strabon”

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, was hosted by the Greek Society for Geographical Studies “Strabon” at the Athens Club, in the format of a closed meeting-luncheon.

The meeting opened with welcoming remarks by the President of the Society, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary George Poukamissas, and the Secretary, Professor Emmanuel Yannakoudakis.

 Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan delivered a detailed address, during which he touched upon:

  • the declaration signed in Washington and the initialing of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing their historic significance in the context of regional developments,
  • President Trump’s “Route for international peace and prosperity” as a key component of the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative and its importance for the unblocking of regional communications, as well as its relevance to the interests of all countries in the region,
  • Armenia’s relations with neighboring and regional countries,
  • the paramount importance of normalizing diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey and opening the Armenia–Turkey border,
  • the development of Armenia’s relations with the United States and the European Union, including the deepening of multi-sectoral cooperation with Greece,
  • Armenia–Diaspora relations, the role of the Diaspora, and its importance in Armenia’s development.

The Ambassador then answered all questions raised by the participants of the closed meeting.

The meeting was attended by members of the Greek Society for Geographical Studies “Strabon,” including former high-ranking officials, diplomats, military officers, and professors from Greece and the European Union.
