19 November, 2025

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, met with members of the Greece–Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Hellenic Parliament.

During the meeting, both sides referred to the friendship between the Armenian and Greek peoples and the essentially strategic nature of cooperation between Armenia and Greece, emphasizing the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in this process. The bridging role of the Armenian Diaspora in strengthening relations between Armenia and countries of residence, including Greece, was also highlighted.

Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan provided a detailed overview of the significance of the documents signed in Washington, the “Trump Path for Peace and Prosperity” initiative, as well as the role of the “Crossroads of Peace” project in this context. The Ambassador underscored Armenia’s commitment to the peace process and also addressed Armenia’s determination to normalize relations with Turkey, noting that this is of vital importance for Armenia and the wider region.

The Head of the Friendship Group, Vassilis Oikonomou, noted in turn that Armenia’s dialogue with its neighbors is extremely important and expressed hope that Armenia will succeed in establishing normal relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey. The Secretary of the Friendship Group, Katerina Notopoulou, emphasized cooperation with Diaspora organizations and proposed holding a youth conference in Thessaloniki, the city representing her electoral district.

The importance of intensifying parliamentary diplomacy and organizing reciprocal visits, including high-level visits planned for the near future, was underscored.
