Ambassador Mkrtchyan Meets with Greece’s Deputy Minister for Digital Governance

28 November, 2025

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, met with the Deputy Minister for Digital Governance of Greece, Christos Dermentzopoulos.

During the meeting, the parties discussed progress in cooperation in the fields of digitalization, new technologies, high technology, and science, as outlined in the protocol of the December 2024 session of the Armenian–Greek Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, Technical, and Scientific Cooperation. It was emphasized that a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Digital Governance of Greece has been agreed upon and is expected to be signed during one of the upcoming visits.

The parties agreed that the governments of Armenia and Greece consider the development of high technologies a strategic priority, and that advancing bilateral cooperation in this field is of key importance on the bilateral agenda.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan noted that in recent years Armenia has recorded significant progress in the fields of high technologies and innovation, achieving double-digit economic growth. An indicator of Armenia’s strong international standing in this sector is the fact that just a few weeks ago, the U.S.-based artificial intelligence (AI) cloud and infrastructure technology company Firebird received U.S. export authorization and announced its first USD 500 million investment in Armenia.

The Ambassador also presented the concept of the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, an internationally successful Armenian brand exporting high-tech education, which is already operating in a number of major and smaller cities around the world.

Deputy Minister for Digital Governance Christos Dermentzopoulos expressed strong interest in the proposals to expand cooperation with Armenia in the field of high technologies and committed to organizing further discussions on the matter in the near future.

The meeting was also attended by Alexandros Boudouris, Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister for Digital Governance of Greece, who highly praised the participation of the Armenian delegation and Armenian companies at the DEFEA 2025 exhibition.
