Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan Meets with Mayor of Hersonissos Zacharias Doxastakis

During his working visit to Crete, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Hellenic Republic, Tigran Mkrtchyan, met with Zacharias Doxastakis, Mayor of Hersonissos.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan, taking into account that approximately 200,000 Armenian tourists visit Crete annually and that Hersonissos receives a large number of them, addressed both the positive dynamics in tourism and the existing challenges during the meeting.

To encourage further cooperation, the Ambassador proposed the development of Armenian-Greek joint cultural and tourism initiatives, as well as exploring the possibility of establishing partnerships between the city of Hersonissos and cities in Armenia.

Mr. Doxastakis emphasized the friendly relations between the two peoples, founded on shared values and historical ties, and agreed on the importance of continuing cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, and the economy.

At the same time, the mayor expressed his readiness to establish relations with the Armenian side within the framework of decentralized cooperation.
