Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan Meets with the President of the Academy of Athens

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, met with the President of the Academy of Athens, Nikiforos Diamandouros.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan congratulated Professor Diamandouros on his election as President of the Academy. The Ambassador proposed to enhance cooperation with the Armenian side within the framework of the memorandum signed in 2024 between the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and the Academy of Athens, including the expansion into humanities fields, particularly Oriental studies, archaeology, and Byzantine studies.

Welcoming Ambassador Mkrtchyan’s visit to the Academy of Athens, Nikiforos Diamandouros noted that his tenure coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Academy of Athens, during which numerous events are planned. At the same time, the Greek scholar reaffirmed his readiness to further develop cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, both in the areas outlined in the memorandum and in the humanities.

The parties agreed to organize an event of mutual interest in the near future.
