Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan Discusses Museum Cooperation with the National Archaeological Museum of Greece

24 February, 2026

On February 24, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, met with the Director of the National Archaeological Museum of Greece, Dr. Kostas Nikolentzos, and the Head of the Directorate of Exhibitions, Communication and Education of the museum, Dr. Evangelos Vivliodetis.

During the meeting, issues related to inter-museum cooperation with Armenia were discussed.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented a number of ongoing collaborative programs between Armenia and Greece in the museum sector, as well as initiatives undertaken by the Embassy in several cultural institutions in Greece.

The parties also discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the visit of the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports to Greece in the summer of 2025, including those involving the National Archaeological Museum.

Reference was made not only to the organization of mutual exhibitions, but also to cooperation in research activities, preservation and restoration of museum artifacts, archival work, exchange of laboratory expertise, educational programs, and other areas.

The parties touched upon a wide range of issues concerning historical commonalities between Armenia and Greece, intercivilizational contacts, and cultural interactions from antiquity to the present day.
