Commemorative Concert Dedicated to the 111th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Held in Thessaloniki

On April 30, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Greece, the concert titled “Sounds of the World: Armenia” was held at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall “Megaron,” dedicated to the memory of the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The event was organized in partnership with the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, with the support of the Hovnanian Family Foundation. Organizational support was also provided by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Thessaloniki.

During the commemorative concert, Aram Khachaturian’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra was performed memorably by Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Hayk Melikyan. The program also featured the vocal-symphonic work “Light from the Cross” by contemporary Greek composer Christos Hatzis, based on themes of Armenian sacred music, performed by Greek-Armenian soprano Siranoush Tsalikian.

The Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra was conducted by distinguished French conductor Philippe Forget.
