Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan Highlights the Deep Roots of Armenian-Greek Friendship in an Interview with LarissaPress

The Greek media outlet LarissaPress published an article in its Sunday edition dedicated to Armenia-Greece relations.

In a meeting with representatives of the media outlet, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan spoke about the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Greek peoples, their historical, cultural and spiritual ties, as well as his impressions from his visit to Larissa in October 2025.

The Ambassador spoke highly of Larissa’s historical significance and dynamic contemporary development, noting that the city had impressed him with its vitality, youthful energy and great potential for the future. According to the Ambassador, Larissa is a developing city that inspires every visitor.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan emphasized that his visit to Larissa coincided with the city’s Liberation Day, celebrated on October 23, as well as the national holiday on October 28.

During his visit, the Ambassador laid a wreath and held constructive meetings with the Governor of Thessaly, Mr. Kouretas, and the Mayor of Larissa, Mr. Mamakos.

The interview placed particular emphasis on the deep historical ties between Armenia and Greece, which date back to ancient times. The Ambassador noted that the Armenian and Greek peoples have been brought closer not only by their shared history and Christian faith, but also by common cultural values, traditions and historical experiences. According to him, the numerous similarities between the two peoples have further strengthened Armenian-Greek friendship over the years.

The Ambassador also highlighted the positive values that unite Armenians and Greeks, emphasizing that the two peoples should continue to focus on mutual respect, friendship and cooperation.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan reaffirmed his admiration for the Greek people and Greek civilization, stating: “What I admire in the Greeks is their great spirit, from the time of Homer to the present day.”
