Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan Discusses Expanding Municipal Cooperation with the Mayor of Alexandroupolis

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan held a meeting with Yannis Zamboukis, Mayor of Alexandroupolis.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the development of decentralized cooperation between Armenia and Greece, the establishment of city partnerships, and opportunities for expanding economic ties. Ambassador Mkrtchyan emphasized the importance of establishing cooperation between Alexandroupolis and cities in Armenia, while also presenting the Armenian Government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative and the TRIPP project.

The prospects for cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and innovation were also discussed. In this context, Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the activities of the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies and proposed continuing discussions on the establishment of a similar center in Alexandroupolis.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on deepening educational and cultural ties between the cities, organizing joint events, and exploring the possibility of establishing direct air connectivity.

Mayor Yannis Zamboukis expressed his readiness to develop cooperation with partner cities in Armenia and support the implementation of joint initiatives. He also highlighted the longstanding and significant contribution of the Armenian community to the city.

Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Thessaloniki Akis Dangazian and Secretary General of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis Yannis Bogdis also participated in the meeting.
