Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan Meets with the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan held a meeting with Christodoulos Topsides, Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Greece.

The meeting focused on interregional cooperation, the expansion of economic ties, and the development of regional connectivity. Ambassador Mkrtchyan emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the regions of Armenia and Greece, particularly highlighting the prospects for a partnership between Shirak Province and the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

The Ambassador presented the Armenian Government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative and the TRIPP project, addressing prospects for unblocking regional transport and communication routes and creating new economic opportunities. The interlocutors also discussed the export of Armenian products to European markets and the potential role of Greek infrastructure in facilitating this process.

Governor Topsidis expressed his readiness to develop cooperation with Armenian regions, highlighting the broad opportunities for joint participation in EU-funded interregional programs. He also presented the strategic importance of the region, including the role of the Port and Airport of Alexandroupolis in regional transportation and logistics.

The interlocutors also emphasized the historical presence and contribution of the Armenian community to the development of the region and agreed to continue working on opportunities for further cooperation.
