On April 1-6 the “Megaron Mousikis” concert hall of Thessaloniki hosted the annual Festival of Children’s Choirs dedicated to Armenia in commemoration of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. Armenia was represented by the “Little Singers of Armenia” under the guidance of Tigran Heqeqyan as a special guest of the Festival. The participation of the Armenian choir to the festival was organized on the initiative of the Thessaloniki branch of the “Hamazgayin” educational and cultural centre and co-organized by the Armenian Embassy in Greece with the assistance of the State Commission coordinating the Centennial events and the Ministry of Culture of Armenia.

On April 3 the concert of the “Little Singers of Armenia” took place, in which compositions by Komitas, Davit Halajyan, Stepan Shaqaryan, Yervand Yerkanyan, as well as of foreign composers, were performed. The concert was attended by the third secretary of the Embassy Mariam Harutyunyan, members of the Hellenic Parliament, representatives of prefecture, Thessaloniki municipality, Consulate General of the Russian Federation, heads and members of the Armenian Community organizations in Thessaloniki.

On April 4 and 5 the artistic director of the choir Tigran Heqeqyan delivered master classes to the Greek choirs participating in the festival.

On April 6 the gala concert of the Festival took place with the participation of eight choirs under the direction of Tigran Heqeqian. In the closing part of the concert 550 singers united their voices to perform “Erebouni Yerevan” by Edgar Harutyunyan, “Moush” by Stepan Shaqaryan, “Let There Be Peace on Earth” by Sy Miller and “Ωδή για την Ειρήνη” by Inna Papadopoulou-Nekrasova.
