30 jun, 2025

On October 16, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Nikos Dendias, the Foreign Minister of Greece, who is on a working visit in Armenia.

Welcoming his counterpart and the delegation, Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that the visit of the Foreign Minister of Greece reflects the friendly and brotherly nature of the centuries-old relations between the two peoples, and reiterates mutual commitment to further deepen the existing cooperation through strengthening contacts and institutional ties.

“Your visit is taking place during a challenging period for us, when our compatriots in Artsakh confront the aggression instigated by Azerbaijan, which is accompanied by two new factors -Turkey’s unconditional, active support to Azerbaijan, and deployment of foreign terrorist fighters in the region by Turkey”,-Minister Mnatsakanyan said.

The partners exchanged views on a number of urgent issues of regional and international agenda. In this regard, Minister Mnatsakanyan reiterated Armenia’s position on the Mediterranean issue, expressing his support and solidarity to Greece and Cyprus. Zohrab Mnatsaknayan noted that the manifestations of Turkey’s expansionist policy are a serious threat in both regional and global context, and prepare ground for the formation of new spots of instability.

Minister Mnatsakayan highly appreciated the important role of Greece in the Armenia-EU partnership agenda, and the support in the cooperation with NATO, especially in the sphere of peacekeeping.

The parties touched upon the cooperation established between the two countries on multilateral platforms. Both sides reiterated their readiness to further deepen reciprocal support on the international platforms.

At the end of the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Greece held a joint press conference.

Earlier that day, the delegation headed by Nikos Dendias visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and paid tribute to the memory of the Holy Martyrs.
