26 March, 2026

At the invitation of Webster University Athens, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, delivered a lecture as part of the university’s “Ambassadors’ Socio-Political Forum.”

The lecture focused on “Armenia and Its Foreign Policy.” During his presentation, Ambassador Mkrtchyan highlighted key developments in Armenia’s foreign policy, including:

  • Armenia–Azerbaijan relations and the perspectives emerging after the signing of a peace agreement, as well as the opportunities for regional development.
  • The “Crossroads of Peace” initiative and its connection to the “Trump Route for Peace and Prosperity”, in line with the documents signed in Washington in August, emphasizing international support, legal foundations, and its significance for regional economic and political development.
  • The current status and prospects of Armenia–Turkey relations.
  • Armenia–United States strategic cooperation, including the strategic partnership agreement signed in January 2025 covering the economy, security and defense, democracy, and interpersonal relations; detailed discussion also included the bilateral documents signed in Washington in August 2025 and the U.S. Vice President’s visit to Armenia in early 2026, which reaffirmed and advanced the strategic relations with the United States.
  • Unprecedented progress in Armenia–European Union relations, highlighting the Strategic Partnership Agenda signed in Brussels and the multilayered cooperation based on shared values and mutual interests.
  • Armenia–Greece relations and the opportunities to elevate them to a strategic level.
  • Armenia’s relations with other partners, including Russia, Georgia, Iran, and Asian countries, as well as the expansion of Armenia’s diplomatic network.

The lecture was followed by a Q&A session, during which Ambassador Mkrtchyan responded to all questions, addressing not only the topics above but also political and historical issues. The discussion also highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy, particularly in strengthening Armenian–Greek relations.
