As part of his working visit to the Evros region, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan held a meeting with Konstantinos Chatzikonstantinou, Executive Director of the Port of Alexandroupolis.

During the meeting, the Executive Director presented the strategic importance of the Port of Alexandroupolis as a key transport and logistics hub connecting Greece, Bulgaria, and Türkiye. The discussion covered the port’s railway infrastructure, its role in facilitating regional freight transportation, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the Black Sea and Mediterranean directions.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the Armenian Government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative and the TRIPP project, which constitutes one of its components, highlighting the prospects for developing regional connectivity and expanding economic interconnectedness.

The interlocutors also discussed opportunities for deepening economic cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, as well as issues related to the export of Armenian products to European markets. In this context, particular attention was paid to the potential role of the Port of Alexandroupolis as a transit and distribution hub for cargo exported from Armenia to Europe.

Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Thessaloniki Akis Dangazian also participated in the meeting.
