14 July, 2026

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Albania, Tigran Mkrtchyan (residence: Athens) met with Klodiana Spahiu, Deputy Head of Parliament of the Republic of Albania.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening interparliamentary cooperation between Armenia and Albania. Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the results of Armenia’s recent parliamentary elections and proposed establishing closer ties between the parliaments of the two countries, including initiating reciprocal visits and exchanges of experience, particularly in the areas of European integration and legislative reforms.

The Ambassador also addressed the dynamic development of Armenia–European Union relations, the visa liberalization process, and Armenia’s efforts to diversify its economic ties. At the request of the Deputy Head of the Parliament, he provided an overview of the current state of the normalization processes with Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Klodiana Spahiu welcomed the initiative to establish stronger interparliamentary ties. She also emphasized Albania’s readiness to share its experience from its European Union accession negotiations with Armenia.

The interlocutors also underscored the importance of cooperation in multilateral forums, as well as the opportunities for developing tourism and expanding the existing direct air connection between the two countries.
