Armenia and Albania Seek to Strengthen Cooperation in Culture, Tourism and Sport

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Albania, Tigran Mkrtchyan (residence: Athens), met with Albania’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Marinela Prifti.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, and sports. Ambassador Mkrtchyan proposed establishing a legal and contractual framework for cooperation, promoting direct links between cultural institutions, artists, and sports organizations, as well as implementing joint cultural, educational, and sports initiatives.

The discussion also covered prospects for cooperation in the preservation and digitization of cultural heritage, the development of creative industries, youth exchanges, collaboration between sports federations, and the implementation of joint training and educational programs.

The interlocutors also underscored the importance of increasing tourism flows between the two countries, including through the organization of online B2B meetings between tour operators.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the International Francophonie Games, which will be held in Armenia in 2027, as well as an upcoming international conference dedicated to medical tourism.

Deputy Minister Prifti welcomed the proposals presented by the Ambassador and expressed her readiness to encourage further work toward launching joint initiatives in the fields of culture and sports.
